  • Christopher Wylie, a whistleblower who once worked at Cambridge Analytica has said that it worked with Canadian company AggregateIQ

"I was surprised to see how many categories for ads and how many advertisers I had to get rid of, one at a time", Wozniak told USA Today.

Wozniak says he'd rather pay for Facebook.

Wozniak compared Facebook with Apple saying the latter tech giant he co-founded with late Steve Jobs did not make money off its users. "As they say, with Facebook, you are the product".

While Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg called Cook's comments "extremely glib" in a subsequent interview with Vox, he has yet to respond to Wozniak's criticism. "Apple has more safe methods to share stuffs about users".

So, Apple Co-Founder Steve Wozniak has recently taken the decision of leaving the platform after all of this.

Facebook privacy crisis my fault - Zuckerberg
That was the giant loophole the British researcher legitimately used to access data but then unjustly sold to Cambridge Analytica. Associated Press reporters around the world have been surveying users, none of whom has reported seeing anything from Facebook.

Wozniak deactivated his Facebook account on Sunday, the report said, after posting a message that the social network has brought him "more negatives than positives".

However, Steve continues to be attached to his Facebook handle "stevewoz" and is loath to give up on that, not even for another Steve Wozniak. "I wouldn't be in the situation", said Cook.

Despite a smattering of high-profile defections, most Wall Street analysts don't expect a significant dent in Facebook's monthly user base of 2.2 billion worldwide. Cambridge, a political consulting, firm apparently misused users' data, USA Today said. "At Facebook, we are squarely in the camp of the companies that work hard to charge you less and provide a free service that everyone can use". After Facebook confirmed that Cambridge Analytica has used data that had been collected from 50 million users without their consent.

Numerous celebrities also have joined the #DeleteFacebook exodus, including Cher, Will Ferrell, Rosie O'Donnell and Jim Carrey. Unfortunately, introducing paid version of Facebook to remove data exploitation for ads would disproportionately affect users who could not afford the paid tier and effectively divide Facebook into two.

Starting Monday, the 87 million users whose data might have been shared with Cambridge Analytica will get a message in their news feeds.
