But just hours after the scathing letter was published on Monday, the The Atlantic followed up on its original reporting with a previously undisclosed email appearing to directly contradict Pruitt's denial. And other Williams & Jensen employees have disclosed lobbying the EPA since Pruitt took over the agency past year.

It notes, among other things, that in Pruitt's "eagerness to hold high-profile political events promoting his agenda", the man who now leads the EPA has often "been less than rigorous in following important procedures, leading to poorly crafted legal efforts that risk being struck down in court".

The ethics office does not have the authority to take action against Pruitt, or demand that Pruitt respond to the letter.

In a letter addressed to EPA deputy counsel Kevin Minoli, David Apol listed several of the most serious reports concerning Pruitt's potential ethical violations. Tammy Duckworth, D-Ill., on Monday requested a review by the Government Accountability Office and determination about whether Pruitt's actions violated different federal laws.

Barrasso, for his part, said Tuesday that he had no intention of holding a hearing on the assessment issue and instead criticized Carper and Whitehouse for quoting "law enforcement sensitive information" that "should not be further disseminated" without the approval of officials at the Secret Service or the EPA's inspector general.

Pruitt has cited the statements from EPA ethics officers in response to questions in regards to the association.

Medical Marijuana May Lead to Fewer Opioid Rxs
The studies showed after states legalized weed, the number of opioid prescriptions and the daily dose of opioids went way down. Colorado and OR , where the drug is fully legalized for adults, had 9% and 10% falls in opioid use, Wen told CNN .

"I didn't know they got the pay raises until yesterday", Pruitt said.

The letter also made mention of a recent report in The Atlantic that Pruitt had approved controversial raises for two of his close aides. Apol calls the report "extraordinarily regarding". Concerns include Pruitt's use of taxpayer money, hiring practices, ethics and more.

"Scott Pruitt has faced an unprecedented amount of death threats against him and these threat assessments are conducted within (the Office of Enforcement and Compliance Assurance) using information collected from the PSD, EPA's Office of Homeland Security, and Inspector General", Wilcox told CNN. Pruitt said that his staff decided he should fly first class so he could be evacuated quickly if needed in an interview with Fox News last week but he recently told CBS News that he asked his staff to change security protocol so he could fly in coach. The Times reports that an EPA spokeswoman said all the trips were related to agency business. In all, Pruitt paid $6,100 to use the room for roughly six months previous year, according to canceled checks with irregular dates, sometimes coming six weeks apart. That review has since expanded to look at the cost of all his travel in 2017 when he frequently traveled first class on domestic and worldwide trips. "As always, the EPA's ethics office stands ready to assist the IG in any way".

The two aides had worked for Pruitt when he was Oklahoma's attorney general. So the EPA used a special authority under the Safe Drinking Water Act to give the raises.

The White House also opened a form inquiry into Pruitt's living arrangement. Sen.
