Missouri's Beleaguered Governor Wants His Day in Court

The Circuit Attorney's Office has asked that a warrant be issued (again) for the governor's arrest.
"These are serious charges - and an important reminder that no one is above the law in Missouri", Hawley said in a statement after Greitens was charged.
According to Friday's criminal complaint, the electronic theft occurred in April 2015, about a month after the privacy offense was alleged to have occurred, while Greitens was running for governor.
Earlier this week, Attorney General Josh Hawley said he had found evidence that showed probable cause the governor used a donor list from his charity, The Mission Continues, for personal gain.
Jim Martin, Greitens' attorney, said in a later statement, "We've done a thorough review of this matter, and we know that there's no wrongdoing here".
Greitens' explanation was, "We were calling people who had become friends and gotten to know me over the course of seven years, who invested in The Mission Continues and got to know me as a leader". So he handed the evidence over to Gardner, who only had a few days to make a decision on whether to charge Greitens.
"I stand by that work", Greitens said.
And when I have my day in court, I will clear my name. I will clear my name.
A grand jury previously indicted Greitens in February with an invasion of privacy charge for allegedly taking a nude photo of a woman with whom he was having an affair in 2015.
Embiid returns to lead Sixers to 2-1 series lead
LaMarcus Aldridge led the Spurs with 18 points while 35-year-old Tony Parker delivered 16 points in a throw-back performance. The rivalry between the Miami Heat and Philadelphia 76ers big man Joel Embiid seems to grow with every passing matchup.
Greitens has sought to portray himself as a rising star in his party since well before his successful 2016 gubernatorial campaign.
He also said the information his office has uncovered will be turned over to a House committee investigating Greitens.
After initially denying that his campaign worked off a donor list from The Mission Continues, Greitens' campaign was assessed a $1,000 fine by the Missouri Ethics Commission.
"Now he's being accused of stealing an email list from an organization he built?" attorney Ed Dowd said to CNN on Friday. In another instance, Tisaby said he checked his laptop for notes during a deposition lunch break, but later said the laptop wasn't even in St. Louis, defense attorneys said.
The Associated Press stated Greitens increased almost £ 2 million.
The new, milquetoast felony charge may smooth the road for Missouri lawmakers to finally chuck Greitens out of office, as it offers a safe-for-work narrative rationale for why the governor must go. The idea that this is a crime is absurd.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported this year that Greitens' former assistant sent the fundraising list to the Greitens campaign. "This allegation is absurd, and Eric will be found innocent of this accusation in court".
Hawley also turned over his findings to the House investigatory committee, which is to recommend in the coming weeks whether to pursue impeachment proceedings to try to remove Grietens from office. One item Hawley discussed was the difference in campaign funds between him and incumbent Democrat Claire McCaskill at this point in the race.
