76ers weigh firing Colangelo over 'burner' Twitter accounts

  • In addition to tweeting from burner accounts, Bryan Colangelo (or his wife) seems to have been commenting on all sorts of articles

The group, according to sources, considers Friday-evening firings less distracting because very few people will be in the office Saturday when the former employee cleans out his belongings.

If found guilty, Colangelo isn't just as good as fired but will be very unlikely to find another job in the National Basketball Association, let alone in the front office, likely facing lawsuits for several HIPAA violations and breach of confidential information given to him as a top-of-the-line executive. He did not immediately return messages from the Inquirer.

A new detail brought to light by Twitter user 'Did the Sixers win?' suggests that Barbara Bottini, Colangelo's wife, has a phone number that ends in 91.

"The only way that he'll get out of it is if he comes with evidence that somebody set him up", said a league executive, speaking on condition of anonymity.

When asked about the situation, Joel Embiid said Colangelo denied attacking him.

Another recent report speculates Colangelo's wife might have operated the accounts. This account, unlike the other four, did not actively tweet. Colangelo admitted to being behind one.

Amazon's statement added, "W$3 e require our customers to comply with the law and be responsible when using Amazon Rekognition ". Baltimore's police department tracks the cell phone use of residents and films their movements using drones.

Colangelo's denials raise suspicion, however, because those tweets align with some of the frustrations and beliefs inside the organization.

The Sixers started their investigation into tweets linked in a report to Colangelo that criticized Sixers players Joel Embiid and Markelle Fultz, among other National Basketball Association figures.

A league source said Colangelo was visibly shaken when the report broke while he was attending a workout in Los Angeles. Three of the burner accounts share the same numbers. Colangelo was previously a part of the Raptors' front office. If you've got as much to say as Mr. and/or Mrs. Colangelo appear to, why stop at Twitter? "They want to wait until the facts come out before commenting".

The source added, unless the perpetrator made some mistakes, it would be hard to definitively prove who tweeted out the information. "That would just be insane", he wrote.

The content of five anonyms Twitter accounts linked to Colangelo - first reported by The Ringer earlier in the week - include the bashing of 76ers' players and personnel and medical information about former centre Jahlil Okafor.

League sources don't think Colangelo will keep his job even if it's proven that Bottini or another family was behind the burner accounts.
