According to Record, Ronaldo has made the "irreversible" decision to call time on his nine-year stint at Madrid and the Portuguese forward will now look for a new club with England, France and Italy named as potential destinations.

"It's been very nice to be at Madrid", he said.

But Marcelo insists the Portuguese does not have any say in transfers and has welcomed his Brazil team-mate to the club.

Ronaldo is said to have suggested this following last month's Champions League final which his team Real Madrid won.

But according to Marca, Madrid have told Ronaldo's agent Jorge Mendes that they are unwilling to match the player's demands.

"He must obviously have his reasons, they are personal decisions on which I can not give my opinion not knowing what is happening in his head".

The 33-year-old, as reported by Record (via Mundo Deportivo), is said to be unhappy with Florentino Perez's refusal to bring his salary in line with that of Lionel Messi at Barcelona, and Neymar at Paris Saint-Germain. "It was lovely to be at Real Madrid", the Portugal forward had told television network beIN Sports after the game.

Ronaldo, who is Real's all-time top scorer, was asked to clarify his comments but continued to give ambiguous answers. "It is easy to get along with great players and Griezmann is one of the best, he is going through an exceptional time in his career." .

Similar reports of Ronaldo leaving Real had emerged past year as well after the Spanish club beat Juventus 4-1 in the final.

Their front page on Thursday morning led with the headline: "Cristiano Ronaldo will leave Real Madrid", leaving little doubt to its connotations.
