In a letter to all employees of Koch Industries sent Tuesday, David's brother Charles Koch, who serves as chairman and CEO of Koch Industries, said that issues that led to a 2016 hospitalization have not been resolved, and David's "health has continued to deteriorate".

The three groups launching the campaign: Freedom Partners Chamber of Commerce, Americans for Prosperity and the LIBRE Initiative, are urging the president to lift the recent tariffs on aluminium and steel imports as well as the proposed tariffs on other imports from China.

David Koch is leaving his roles as executive vice-president and board member for Koch Industries and chairman of the board for the Americans For Prosperity Foundation, the charity related to Koch brothers' primary political organization.

The network, which could make a difference in some of the states that could tip the balance of power on Capitol Hill, says it plans to spend roughly $400 million on state and federal policy and politics during the two-year election cycle that culminates with the November balloting.

On Monday, the Koch network announced a multi-million-dollar campaign to oppose Trump's tariffs and highlight the benefit of free trade.

David and Charles Koch are widely known for their financial support of conservative causes that favor businesses and stricter environmental regulation, according to the New York Times.

David Koch, 78, did not attend the network's winter seminar earlier this year. He has also given $185 million in total donations to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, his alma mater.

Citing concerns about Trump's style and substance, the network refused to endorse either presidential candidate in the 2016 election.

Koch, who now lives in NY with his family, will continue to serve on some boards of organizations to which he has philanthropic ties.

David and Charles Koch have donated an estimated $680 million to doctors and research that seek to find a cure for cancer.

According to an official bio, he has pledged or contributed more than $1.3 billion to assist various causes, including educational, arts and cultural institutions and public policy organizations.

"Due to health reasons, David Koch will be resigning from the board of the AFP Foundation". His ticket, with Ed Clark, received just 1 percent of the popular vote. The firm, with annual revenue of $100 billion, operates pipelines and produces fertilizer but also manufactures everything from Dixie cups to Quilted Northern toilet paper.

David Koch, executive vice president at Koch Industries, will become director emeritus. Their influence has largely been powered by a fortune centered on Koch Industries, the second-largest privately held company in the United States, whose operations range from refining and chemicals to ranching and forest products.
