  • Short-Tempered Priest Slaps Toddler

The exact date of the incident are unclear, although the video surfaced on the internet on Wednesday.

The footage depicts what looks like a standard christening with the priest trying to perform the religious ceremony with a crying baby. After he fails to calm the child down, the priest ends up slapping the child, uttering the words "Calm down" in front of the toddler's surprised and shocked parents.

A woman can be heard saying something to the priest before the man has to physically remove the baby from the priest's arms.

One user translated the footage into English and claimed the priest was explaining he would pour water on the child's forehead, saying: "He'll have become a little Christian".

In a 40-second clip that has gone viral, the French-speaking clergyman lashes out in frustration during the ceremony as the tiny child is held by a woman thought to be his mother.

"I don't care if you're a man of the church I'm knocking you if you slap my son", wrote one person.

An onlooker can be heard gasping, as the priest then raises his voice at the boy and places his hand over his mouth in an attempt to muffle the cries.

The outraged relatives then stepped in and snatched the baby away from the priest, after watching on in shock.

People on YouTube took to the comments section to express their disapproval of the priest's behavior. As a priest you are suppose to insure safety and peace but yet you slap my child!
