Cristiano Ronaldo has received an offer to leave Real Madrid and join Italian champions Juventus, a source close to the player told Reuters on Wednesday (July 4).

Ronaldo's former employers Manchester United were originally as the favourites to sign him when his club future was cast into uncertainty.

Despite the glut of silverware, however, the five-times world player of the year has had frequent fallouts with Real and has declared on several occasions that he wants to leave the club.

However, Ronaldo backtracked on those comments in the days following, and has not spoken about his club future since.

Spanish club Real Madrid have denied the reports that the club has agreed a stunning deal with French side Paris-Saint-Germain for the signing of France global Kylian Mbappe.

He contradicted himself by essentially saying England is still growing ahead of a fixture in which it can't afford to be uncertain.

The Italian giants have not won the Champions League since 1996 and as a result are looking to sign top stars that can help them earn the most coveted prize in club football and there is no doubt Ronaldo would be one of those top stars. It's been really lovely to play for Real Madrid.

The Portugal worldwide is said to expect €30 million (A$47 million) per year to make the move - a figure that could rise to as high as €60 million (A$95 million) with Italian taxes.

While a Neymar-to-Madrid move appears to be on the cards, the 13-time Champions League winners could also be tempted to return for Harry Kane's signature if they lose Ronaldo.

Neymar is now on duty with Brazil at the World Cup in Russian Federation and scored one and set up another as they beat Mexico 2-0 in the last 16 on Monday. Portugal's desire to go past the round of 16 however hit the rocks after they were edged out by Uruguay, following a 2-1 defeat.
