  • Defense Secretary James Mattis then told colleagues Trump had the mental ability of'a fifth or sixth-grader

White House Chief of Staff John Kelly refers to Trump as an idiot and Defense Secretary James Mattis is quoted as saying that Trump has the understanding and comprehension of a fifth or sixth grader.

"Let's kill him! Let's go in".

A quintessential reporter who first put the fear of god into Richard Nixon's Washington DC when he broke the Watergate story in the early 1970s with Post colleague Carl Bernstein, Woodward's scathing account about the neurotic and dysfunctional Trump presidency has already put Fear on the top of the Amazon bestseller chart.

In a statement released Tuesday, Mattis said, in part, that "the contemptuous words about the President attributed to me in Woodward's book were never uttered by me or in my presence". The book, due for release on September 11, is already causing a political 9/11, even as the President and the Woodward-backing liberal press in the USA are locked in a struggle to establish who is more credible.

It was all part of a larger effort to insulate the administration, and the nation, from what they saw as Mr Trump's more risky impulses.

President Donald Trump on Tuesday evening amped up his attacks on veteran journalist Bob Woodward, baselessly suggesting he is a Democratic operative because his new book portrays chaos and dysfunction inside the White House. Woodward, who helped break the Watergate scandal over 40 years ago, is still a highly respected Washington journalist.

Mattis called the book "fiction" and Sanders denounced the tome in a statement as "nothing more than fabricated stories, many by former disgruntled employees" without disputing any of the specifics that have been reported in excerpts.

"Fear: Trump in the White House", which is reportedly largely based on interviews with sources inside the Trump administration, finds Trump insulting his Cabinet members and highest-ranking national security officials, including Attorney General Jeff Sessions, chief of staff John Kelly, former national security advisor H.R. McMaster and many others.

The account explains Chief of Staff John Kelly, after arguing with the president, said, "He's an idiot".

He also denied specifically ever calling Sessions "mentally retarded" or mocking him for being from the south.

Songs will be provided by Wonder, Ariana Grande , Jennifer Hudson, Fantasia, Faith Hill , Shirley Caesar, Chaka Khan and more . Meanwhile, the 25-year-old's choice of funeral attire drew criticism on social media for being a bit too revealing for church.

"We're doing this in order to prevent World War III", Mattis advises the benighted president when explaining why the USA maintains a military presence in South Korea.

Interestingly enough, Trump did not appear to believe Woodward had any "credibility problems" during their discussion.

Details from the book were published by the Washington Post on Tuesday.

He denied the charge then, calling it "total B.S.", and he's denying it now.

Trump has hit back in a series of tweets claiming that Woodward was working for the Democratic party and that publication of the book was timed to damage the Republicans in the midterm elections in November.

Unlike previous books about the Trump White House, Mr Wood- ward's work was extensively researched with dozens of tape interviews with sources, making it harder for the President to dispute the claims. I don't even know why any of us are here.

"Let's fucking kill him!" For Woodward, it means putting almost a half-century of credibility covering eight presidents behind a vivid account he says is supported by scores of hours of recordings.

"I assume that means it's going to be a negative book", the president replies. "I probably would have spoken to him if he'd called, if he'd gotten through".

"Everything so far I've seen out of this book doesn't depict what's going on in the building behind me".

Ultimately, Trump cited his success as proof that the book was fundamentally flawed. Trump said. "Let's go in". Trump's immediate goal in the chat is to try to get away with saying that Woodward never attempted to interview him for his book, which had been completed by the time they talked.
