In July, Sharat Koppu, 26, from Telangana was shot dead by an unidentified person at a restaurant in Kansas City, Missouri.

Gov. John Kasich ordered flags to be flown at half-staff at all public buildings and grounds in Hamilton County, and at the Statehouse, through Monday. One has been upgraded to serious condigtion and the other is in fair condition, according to UC Health.

He, along with two others, Luis Felipe Calderon, 48, and Richard Newcomer, 64, were shot dead by the gunman identified as Omar Perez, 29.

Police believe Perez was armed with some 200 rounds of ammunition and a legally-bought 9mm semi-automatic handgun when he entered the lobby of the 30-story building, Isaac said.

Neighbours who lived in a Cincinnati-area apartment building that Santa Perez moved into this year gave conflicting descriptions of him. "Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone caught up in this awful event", the statement says.

Cincinnati's Fountain Square will reopen Friday, just a day after a gunman opened fire at civilians at the nearby Fifth Third Center. Perez was not a current or former employee at the bank, police said.

Several officers arrived within minutes of the first emergency calls and four of them shot the suspect, killing him at the scene.

No police officers were hurt. Later, he accessed the high-rise building through a loading dock and opened fire. Police didn't release details about the search.

Almost three hours after the incident, several streets in downtown Cincinnati remained closed to traffic.

"This is a shock that none of us could have ever expected and we're focused on praying for his family and getting through this", Cotter said. Police said there is no threat in the area. "You know, these are things that we see happening across the country, and we all have to be vigilant and prepared to deal with these situations".

Austin had driven to Cincinnati from Louisville, Kentucky, for a meeting and was on a conference call as she walked into Fifth Third Center on September 6.

Another witness told FOX19 that he thought there was movie filming until he saw police carrying a wounded woman away from the scene and saw officers rushing to the scene.

It's unclear if the gunman shot himself or was shot by officers, police said.

Cincinnati Mayor John Cranley credited police and firefighters for their heroic actions, running into the bank lobby to confront the shooter.

There was a senseless act of gun violence on the streets of Cincinnati this morning.
