Tear Gas Is 'Natural, You Could Actually Put It On Your Nachos'

  • Many of the migrants are women and children. But according to President Trump keeps talking about how he believes the migrants are stone cold criminals

Footage from weekend border chaos included video images of mothers and toddlers rushing to avoid tear gas and/or pepper spray released from USA border officials into Mexico territory as means to disperse Central American migrants amassing at the border.

The clash between the migrant caravan and US authorities along the Mexican border in recent days highlights a contentious topic in the immigration debate: asylum laws.

A migrant mother who was trying to illegally enter the United States while scaling a border fence fell off and was impaled.

US Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen accused the migrants of seeking to harm US border patrol personnel "by throwing projectiles at them".

A former border agent has defended the use of tear gas against Central American migrants at the Mexican border with the United States, arguing that the chemical compound is edible. It is the most heavily trafficked land border in the western hemisphere.

Mexico's Interior Ministry said it would immediately deport those who tried to "violently" enter the US from Tijuana.

"As the crowd Sunday crossed the Tijuana River into California, more than one dozen agents responded to the border fence atop the levee and deployed pepper spray to hold them back, triggering the melee", the report continued.

Trump hints at not imposing new round of tariffs on China
Some analysts and officials have raised the possibility that the two presidents could agree to a ceasefire of sorts at the G-20. Maybe President Trump had found Navarro's ravings useful at an earlier stage of his negotiating strategy, but not now.

On the other side of the border in Mexico, Tijuana police had arrested 39 people by Sunday night, the agency said on Facebook.

Mexico said it would fix the damaged fence but would not deploy military forces to the border. "Any additional resources that we assign to processign asylum seekers literally slows down the economy of the United States".

Although Sunday's incident took place at a part of the border where there is already a physical barrier, Trump again urged Congress to fund his long-promised border wall, as well as reiterating his unsubstantiated assertion that there are many criminals among the migrants.

"We can't have all these people here", Mujica told The Associated Press.

Now Mexican authorities say they'll deport a portion of the 500 of the migrants who tried to enter America. A young woman fell to the ground unconscious, and two babies cried, tears streaming from the gas. The incident began with a march to the border that organizers said would be peaceful. McAleenan said he was not aware of any successful illegal entries by caravan members into the US.

Democrats and other critics called the Trump administration's use of tear gas toward the migrants an overreaction and blamed the administration for rejecting efforts to address larger immigration issues.

Mexico is on track to send a total of around 100,000 Central Americans back home by the end of this year.
